A toast to origins, perseverance, dreams and authenticity!

Our story begins with a dream, a vision and a family legacy…

THE LEGADO DE TALHAS, arises from João and Catarina's latent vision of revealing to the world, a unique and singular family wine, full of personality and authenticity, thus paying homage to the tradition and customs of the quiet village of Vila Alva, in Alentejo, which saw João grew up.

Forged by hand, in accordance with the wisdom and precepts of ancestral winemaking, passed down from generation to generation and improved at Adega do Palrão, over more than 85 years, the wine from LEGADO DE TALHAS has its distinctive stamp thanks to the hands of 4 great precursors of the family who, sometimes out of passion, sometimes out of need for subsistence, dedicated themselves passionately to the cultivation of vineyards and wine made in Clay Talhas.

They are the great-great-grandfather Francisco Inácio dos Santos, the great-grandfather José Maria dos Santos, the grandfather António Francisco Arvanas and finally, the father José Francisco
Arvanas who still continues working and contributing to the art of making wine, at the
winery.

It is with this dream carved in the soul and with enormous pride on these 4 Men legacy , to whom we pay this TRIBUTE, that LEGADO DE TALHAS would like to show and give a taste the world, of what is best done by this family and also throughout the Vila Alva village, for several generations.

The welcoming and peaceful village of Vila Alva, which far exceeds its geographical area with a strong history and cultural heritage in the ancient tradition of producing Talha wines, is the main host for this story.

In his extraordinary work Pedra Filosofal, the poet António Gedeão reflected that “whenever Man dreams, the World leaps and advances”.

It is like this, with this vivacious dream, that today we allow ourselves to toast to the best of our origins, to the dreams we carry with us and to celebrate with the best we have to offer.
